Open Day – an invitation to past and present pupils and anyone interested in learning more about HMP

We’re inviting all current and past pupils of Hatfield Montessori plus their friends and anyone who is interested in learning about the school or just Montessori education in general to come to our Open Day on the 11th April 2026 between 10am and 2pm.

An Open Day at a Montessori School is a wonderful opportunity for parents and caregivers who are interested in enrolling a child to observe and experience the environment firsthand, interact with teachers and staff, and gain a deeper understanding of the Montessori philosophy and approach.

This Open Day on the 11th April 2026 is extra special because Hatfield Montessori Preschool is 40 years old this year and so besides being a chance for people to get to know the school, we hope that present and past pupils will also be there to enjoy the day.

The day will begin at 10am and The Farm Corner will have animals on show for a few hours.

You are invited to bring along suitable fruit and vegetables (EG. apple / lettuce / carrot) so that you can feed the animals.

Then there will be a demonstration of Soccerstarz and a chance to experience some of the school activities.

Lunch will be from 12 until 1 o’clock followed by an Easter egg hunt and a Yoga demonstration.

We hope you will make an outing of it and bring family and friends to enjoy it with you.

Please let us know if you can come so that we make sure the Easter Bunny brings sufficient eggs.

1. By visiting the Montessori learning environment parents can see how the classroom is arranged and how the space is designed to promote independence, exploration, and engagement. Seeing the environment and the specially designed Montessori materials leads to an understanding of how Montessori principles are implemented.

2. Open days offer a chance to meet the staff and ask questions about the curriculum, teaching method and the overall educational philosophy. By building a relationship with the teachers, parents can gain insight into the expertise and dedication of the educators who will be guiding their child.

3. Open Days also allow parents to gain a deeper understanding of the Montessori philosophy, the emphasis on child-centred learning, the role of the teacher as a guide, and the focus on individualized learning experiences. This understanding helps parents to make an informed decision about whether Montessori education aligns with their child’s needs and their educational values.

4. Open days allow parents to experience the overall atmosphere of the Montessori school. They can observe the calm and peaceful environment, the focus on concentration and engagement, and the nurturing and supportive interactions between teachers and students. Experiencing the atmosphere helps parents to assess whether it aligns with their expectations for their child’s learning environment.
